Kenya Safari Season

The weather in Kenya is good for safaris at all times of year, though there is a greater chance of encountering rain from mid-April to the end of May and in November.
Some people like to travel in these 'rainy' months when dramatic cloud formations gather over the Mara plains, there is a sense of refreshment and grasslands are carpeted in new flowers. Daily temperatures are influenced by altitude, so in the higher areas like Samburu you need a fleece for the cool early morning drives, but by 9am this is discarded as temperatures rise to the high 20s. After a delicious lunch you take a siesta during the warm early afternoon with temperatures in the low 30s.
Head out on safari around 4pm as it gets cooler and the animals start moving, remembering to take the fleece for when the sun has dipped below the horizon.

Weather is more a consideration at the coast, so don't visit the Kenya coast from the first week of April to the first few days of June as the rains are heavier in coastal areas.
At all other times of year the Kenya coast weather is warm, gently humid and breezy, at its very best from late November through to March.
